It always seems harder to pick the winner of the prelims than it does the grand final. Upsets happen all the time. Look at GWS in 2019, they upset Collingwood to make their first grand final appearance. It made for a boring Grand final as they got smoked by Richmond. Its not a thumping that disappointed me though, it was what could have been. The sliding door to that Collingwood upset was that it cost us fans the chance to see the Pies and Tiges square off in a granny for the ages. At least the biggest one in 30 years. They were clearly the best two sides.
Last year’s decider was a great one. As a Carlton supporter I would have loved to see us play Collingwood instead of Brisbane. I think we would have beaten them. But I admit the best two sides met in the end.
Tonight’s final has the feel of one of those upsets. Sydney have been incredibly inconsistent at times. Their best players go missing for extended periods, but they have enough quality around them to make up for it. The power on the other hand is heavily reliant on their stars. Jason Horne-Francis is the key for them. If he is on song, they are incredibly hard to beat.
I have the Swans rated the better side in this one, but i have no opinion on the spread of -19.5.
Swans to make the Grand Final.
